COMPASSO D'ORO AWARD

It was an award created in 1954 by La Rinascente
department store, it was based on a Giņ Ponti's idea and
organised from 1959 by the new ADI (industrial design
organization). It was one of the first instruments created
by industry for design promotion, regarded as both a
cultural and an economic value. Its main purpose was to
emphasize Italian design quality.
The Compasso d'Oro award's logo was the Adalbert
Goeringer's compass, designed by Albe Steiner and styled by
Alberto Rosselli and Marco Zanuso.
It is the most interesting design award for designers, companies and products and from 1964 it has been managed exclusively by ADI.
